Family Time in Iowa

Last fall, we took some R&R over a long weekend and had some fun adventures in Iowa!

We got to meet our grandpuppy, who is absolutely adorable and graduated from puppy kindergarten while we were there.  We also spent lots of quality time with our daughter and her fiancee.   It was a wonderful time of bonding, laughter, sharing meals and being together.  It doesn’t get any better than that!

We were surrounded by beautiful scenery and I’m anxious to share, so here goes!

We don’t have Pokeweed in the North Dakota/Minnesota area, so it was fun to see it up close!

Pink Things on a Vine

We have no idea what this is, but it’s kind of weird looking!

Mullein.  We have it up here too, but it’s a fascinating plant that is always worth photographing.

Spikes on a Tree

Not sure what kind of tree this is, but it seems to have a good defense system.  This was amazing!

Black Squirrel

We don’t have black squirrels, so it was fun to see them!  (I was trying to hurry and take this photo, since the tree was in someone’s yard.  Didn’t want to creep them out ;))

Mushrooms are always interesting.  These looked kind of slimy, but they are very pretty!

This little chipmunk decided to pose for his picture, in spite of joggers passing by.  We have chipmunks in Minnesota, but they are so darn cute you just have to take a picture of them anyway.

Maggie and Heidi

Maggie (left) and Heidi (right) finally got to meet!  This was in a rare, quiet moment when they were both relatively still.  Heidi is about 8 years older than Maggie, but kept up pretty well!  They played with each other all weekend.

Quality time with family….priceless!!
